I am currently creating an opening in a standard interior wall to install a sliding door. Of course, the builders used metal studs, against my recommendation, and now I don't know how to dismantle this. How do I most easily cut the vertical metal stud and the one lying on the floor?

tin snips? Cutting torch? I would prefer to avoid going at it with a sledgehammer...

Break off the screw or alternatively try to find them on the other side and unscrew.

Remove the plaster cast. Pull it off manually while standing. Unscrew the screws that hold the horizontal part. Done.

?

Otherwise, my personal favorite for demolition is a reciprocating saw with a reasonably long blade.

Yes, it worked out in the end. But it required many difficult steps, mainly trying to cut them with tin snips. It's a terrible material.

A reciprocating saw is better if you have one and are okay with covering the rest of the apartment in drywall dust, now it stayed clean at least.

Thanks!

Great, nicely done!

A reciprocating saw between the board and the frame, cut the screw. Not the drywall! :) Works well when door and window frames, wooden floors, and the like are to be demolished.
