Hello!

Has anyone embedded something like LK 16mm underfloor heating into existing floor chipboard over a large area?

I want to embed waterborne underfloor heating in about 80m2. I was thinking 2.5mm reinforcement, 16mm pipe + 21.5mm screed = 40mm total. But that's way too little, says LK. The minimum acceptable is 30mm of screed above the highest point of the 16mm pipe.

Does anyone know for sure if it will be a disaster with heat distribution if you pour 20mm above the pipe?

How did it turn out in the end? Did you follow your original plan?

I'm considering doing the same thing. With tiles on top of it. The hope is that the filler together with tiles at about 30mm above the pipes will be enough to spread the heat.

Yes, the work is done! Between 20-25mm above the pipe. However, the underfloor heating isn't connected yet😂 since we went ahead and also tore out the utility room/laundry room. But it will be soon 👍🏻 But I'm not worried anymore, talked to several people in the industry and 20mm above the pipe is no problem. Especially with tiles that add about 10mm more 👍🏻👍🏻

Great! Thanks for the quick reply.

That will be the plan for me as well. It’s in a hall for me, so it will be a bit of "striped" warming-up, so it doesn't matter much.
