How do I attach the swing?
Hello,
4x4m pergola
90x90 posts with cast footing in corners
45x195 beam against house wall and around
70x70 post in the middle to attach slats later.
I was thinking of hanging this

A strap around the beam?
Trapezoidal screw straight up?
Do I need to reinforce with an extra 45x195 horizontally roughly where the swing will be to prevent the beam from swaying sideways when lightly swinging?
As mentioned, 2 attachment points

Ok I can do that along with a horizontal brace. Then instead of using a trapeze screw, could I use a long type of carriage bolt straight through from below through all 195cm with a bolt/washer on top and something like a carabiner at the bottom. Or are 2 big trapeze screws the way to go?F fribygg said:
I would not place a trapezoidal screw straight up and rely on the screw threads to support body weight.
If you want a vertical screw, use a through-bolt with a large washer.
If you don't want to use a through-bolt, then screw horizontally.

I also have a hook exactly like that, but it's mounted for a "baby swing." It probably works perfectly fine in most cases, but I still wouldn't recommend it when the original poster talks about swinging a bit in wood that is exposed to weather and wind.B breakman said:
