How did you do with the inner stairs? Glass wall?
I need some good advice.
We have a staircase leading up to the second floor located just to the left as you enter the hallway. The staircase stands freely between the hallway and living room. The leftmost part of the staircase directly faces a window in the plan, but near the windows, the steps are low enough to be under the window. The staircase has white sides and oak steps. The house itself is from the mid-1800s. Now I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how we can install a guard/protection railing towards the living room in an airy way so that children and dogs don't fall down. It can't be a real wall since the window would be in the way, and we also appreciate the light in the hallway and living room. Ideally, it shouldn't be too modern, but I've been slightly considering glass. However, other alternatives are also possible. Suggestions?
And if one were to install a glass wall - where do you buy such - should it be glass or plastic? Other ideas?

I put glass "walls" on the staircase to make it more enclosed upwards, also put glass around the stairwell at the top. It becomes a bit modern, but go to the nearest glazier, they have catalogs from distributors with maaaany options.
they are attached with special clip mounts for glass, which the glazier also orders for you. available in 1000 different designs. it is a piece that is screwed to the wall, then you hold the glass in place and fasten it with the other piece of the mount. creates a very strong and suction-like effect...
