Hello, I would like some feedback on my stair project that is in the planning stage. Currently, there is no staircase, and the guy who built the house did not think he needed one. Anyway,
Question 1: To reinforce the stair opening (1 beam cut), I plan to do as shown in the image (the dashed lines are new beams), does that work?
Question 2: Will my stairs function well, or do I need to move to a place that is bigger

Hand-drawn sketch of staircase plan with measurements and marked beam positions. Dashed lines indicate new beams for stairwell alteration.

Here is a good page to check if the stairs will be comfortable to walk on.

yes I have used it, it says it will be an uncomfortable staircase

The staircase will work, but as mentioned, it won't be comfortable. Short and high steps, as well as a steep angle. You should ideally add at least one more step. But it depends on how much the staircase will be used.
The framing looks okay, provided the beams are properly dimensioned.
