Hello,
We have an outdoor jacuzzi model recessed within an area of 2.7m x 2.7m. It is adjacent to our terrace.
Now we want to be able to "double-utilize" the pool. As a pool when you want to swim - as a terrace otherwise.
There are a few options on how to solve this - feel free to offer tips. Currently, the main approach is:
1) Loose beams that span across the pool with a center-to-center distance of, for example, 600mm. They must be able to be placed by hand and handle an open span of about 2.7m.
2) Wood-clad panels of, for example, 600x2700mm resting on 1).
BUT - I have no feel for what this means in practice - HELP!
2.7m x 2.7m = 7.3m2. 150kg/m2 gives 1100kg. Reasonable?
Beams in aluminum / stainless steel / other? The weight should ideally be a maximum of about 15kg if they are to be easily moved. At the same time, they should collectively (perhaps 4 beams + sides) support 1100kg with a span of 2.7m. Conservatively calculated, you would probably want each beam to handle 250kg placed in the middle of the beam.
Do you have any sense if this is possible, and if so, which material and dimension might be suitable? (Cost?)
We'll tackle the wood-clad panels as exercise two eventually
Grateful for all tips and ideas
