Hello! I am working on some "renovation" of our entrance, which consists of a concrete staircase in quite poor condition. I've chipped away about 3cm of concrete that was completely loose. Now, the stairs are to be clad in wood, with 45x45 battens and decking. The problem I've encountered is that against the house wall, consisting of standing planks with timber inside, there was asphalt felt/tar paper up a bit on the wall, and folded down a few centimeters under the top concrete layer (the one I've chipped away). How on earth do I make this moisture-proof? A concrete staircase beside a wooden wall with scattered debris and a power tool nearby, revealing an area involved in renovation and moisture-proofing concerns.

Trim the wood a few cm so it doesn't touch the concrete, place a sheet metal that goes up over the wood.
