Hello

In my 60s villa (low-sloped roof) I have an approximately 7-meter steel beam in the attic (around 400? mm) that relieves the roof trusses over the living room. The house has a basement, the main floor is wooden, with concrete vaults in between.

My question is simply if one can also expect steel columns supporting this beam. Or can there also be wooden columns?

Does anyone have any experience with something similar?

Best regards
Ejo

It might as well be wooden studs, I would almost say that in residential buildings there are more often wooden posts than steel.

Yes, with the rest of the construction in wood, it is probably also wooden pillars. That's how it is in my garage, for example.

Thanks for your responses,
Ok. maybe it's a wooden structure then, I will tear down the wall for another reason, so I'll find out the truth eventually I guess.

However, I like to know what to expect when I tear it down ;)
