Hi, I'm sitting and thinking about whether I can use an HEA beam 120 cast in a U LECA block. The house is to be built with 400mm insulation blocks. The width of the house is 6200mm, and the opening is to be 3500 wide x 2100 high mm. This is to accommodate glass sliding doors.
I was thinking of using U blocks over the opening and casting an HEA beam 120 instead of reinforcement, as it's the largest beam that fits in the U block.
I concluded that the weight is 18.241 kN, how do I make a calculation to see if my beam can handle that load?
