Hi, have you used an outdoor sealant that is paintable for gaps in horizontal paneling, a few mm wide?

Thankful for input/H

Yes that, or snickarspackel

I have, knock on wood, not had any gaps in the siding yet after 10 years.
But when the house was newly built, we filled all the nail holes with outdoor caulk before painting.
The carpenters had nailed the Z-paneling with a nail gun that was set too hard,
so there were nail holes a cm deep in the paneling.
We filled them with outdoor caulk with good results to make it look decent before painting.

Do you have to? You mean that the water would flow upward into the gap?

According to building advice, one apparently shouldn't fill in gaps upwards, better to let it ventilate...
