Hi, I recently bought an apartment where I have a wall with plastered brick. I haven't gotten access yet, so I don't know for sure if it's solid or hollow brick, but according to the seller, he is almost certain it's solid brick.
My question is, I plan to buy a TV unit with wall-mounted display cabinets included (link below), and I think there shouldn't be any problem hanging these cabinets on the wall, but I'd like to hear from those of you who are more knowledgeable first. Is there anything I should consider if it turns out to be hollow brick? Is it possible to hang relatively heavy display cabinets on a brick wall?
If so, I would need suggestions for plugs. Nail plugs or some other alternative? I assume it should be nail plugs for solid brick and some other plug for hollow brick.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Rasmus

The most important thing to consider is that the joints are probably as brittle as a spättekaka. If possible, try to fasten into stone instead. I wouldn't use nail plugs, you'll get better tension with screw+plug; there are many variants to choose from for brick. If you end up with a hole in a joint, use something like a plug for lightweight concrete. Make sure to get the right length for the plugs and screws, see the instructions on the plug. Keep in mind that you need to go through the plaster and at least 5 cm into the stone, and the fastening will take up a bit of the screw's length.
I don't think it should matter if it's hollow brick. Fasten with wall plugs and screws. Drill carefully, the first layer of plaster tends to fall off just by touching it and risks making large holes. Do not use a hammer drill, but a regular impact drill. You might not even need to use the impact function.
