We are renovating our recreation room and plan to mount a TV and shelves on a brick wall. Behind the brick wall, there is an inner concrete wall, with an air gap in between. The question is whether it is safe to attach a TV and shelves to this brick wall?

A living room with a brick wall, wooden ceiling, and a TV on a wooden cabinet flanked by speakers, with plants for decoration. Close-up of a perforated light-colored brick lying on a concrete surface, related to discussion about mounting a TV and shelves on a brick wall.

The TV is absolutely fine, the shelves are really a question of how heavy they will be. There's a risk they could pull down the wall if they become too heavy. Maybe you should look at longer screws that go through the brick and into the concrete?

Ok, the shelves are like Ikea Bestå or similar, where they are aligned under the TV. I don't think it's a lot of weight, but it will probably be about 2-3 meters with Bestå-like shelves under the TV. I'll check the screws, but they will probably have to be about 20+ cm long.
