Hello,

I usually use gypsum expanders with force to mount curtains and cabinet rails in the gypsum wall, and every time it has worked well, but when I wanted to mount a drying rack in the laundry room after a few months, one fixed point started to loosen.
We have fabric on the gypsum wall, and as you can see in the picture, the expander is not holding; every time I had used the expander on a painted gypsum wall, it worked, but not this time.
Could the fabric on the gypsum be the reason it's not holding properly?
How can I fix it now? Can I remove the expander and use a new expander at the same point?
Or has the gypsum already broken and I can't use the same fixed point any longer?

  • Loose drywall anchor on a textured wall, possibly due to underlying wallpaper, causing installation issues for a clothes drying rack.
I guess that you used a drywall anchor for thicker walls than you have.

kan jag ta bort expander och använder en ny expander på samma punkt?
You can try to carefully drill so that the outer part comes loose and you can push in the rest of the expander. Then insert a new plasterboard expander, but make sure it is for single drywall, if you have that.

You don't need to drill, grip the edge with side cutters, and bend lightly, it is designed for the edge to release easily, press in the pipe that remains.

I know that there are single plasterboard and double plasterboard variants, is that what you meant? I used a single plasterboard variant and it worked before in our living room and all the bedrooms we have, here in the laundry room one anchor point didn't turn out so well, I thought maybe I'd redo it and see how it turns out.

I saw a video on YouTube where a guy took it out with the help of a hammer, that is, he screwed the screw a little bit and then hammered it so it became loose. It worked for me too, now I have tried filling the holes to have a better grip.
