Planning to build a 15m2 tool/ski storage and half snowmobile garage from loose timber. What would you use for flooring in the snowmobile section? I want proper gaps so that snow and water can fall through. Considering 45x70 or 28x70. No pressure-treated wood.

45X70 beneath the snowmobile, then there will be many gaps for snow/ice to fall through

Min you write, would you have used something else?

Your own suggestion, I don't know the size of the snowmobile, but a large one weighs between 200 - 300 kg, so it needs a bit underneath to support it, now the weight is distributed over several. If you want, you can go a bit thicker while you're at it, keep in mind that C/C 300 between the beams underneath is probably a must. How are you planning the floor structure?

I would make a drained bed of gravel.

With a little more time, that would have been a good option!

200-300kg snowmobile results in a clearly lower pressure than a human. Tracks and skis distribute the load quite well. If there's an edge you drive over, it might add a bit more load, but it's nothing extreme.

It will be approximately 4.3x3.5 and stand on three rows of piers with a beam of 170 and joists of 145 is the plan. 12 piers in total. Uninsulated.

Then it will hold well, if you have a longbandare it won't be many Kg per cm m2

I laid a mat in a snowmobile garage with a drain in the middle and a slope towards it, but I can't remember what they used to drive on?
I wonder if it was some type of cart so it was possible to push the snowmobile sideways to make room for activities like waxing skis.

Standard touring machine. Polaris 550. About 250kg. Then I'll go with this!

But then it was probably bigger than a little plank shed? :D

I have C-c 60 in my snowmobile shed. On top of that lies 28x120 in one direction and then 22x95 in the other direction that I run across. It's holding up well, now there are two snowmobiles and a sled in there waiting for the snow and cold to arrive :p. However, the gaps aren’t as big as you're thinking.

I have regular 22x95 on joists 600 mm on center in the garage for two snowmobiles. It's held for several years. A snowmobile does weigh a bit, but the weight is distributed over a relatively large area. A typical deck doesn't collapse just because three adults stand next to each other...

It draws in quite a lot of snow, so how much space underneath are you planning to have? I myself cast a slab and laid a coarse ribbed mat on it. I just pull that mat out when it needs to be emptied. Works great.
