I'm about to start renovating the basement. To make it as smooth as possible, with casting and drainage, etc., I'm planning to remove a couple of walls to open up the space as much as possible. Does anyone have any thoughts on these things, and whether it is even possible?

The idea is to completely remove the green wall and replace it with a substantial glulam beam. I would prefer to avoid a post in the middle. Length is 4.9 m. As I interpret the drawing, it supports the ground floor joists, and there's a kitchen above. It doesn't support anything else?
Thoughts on the dimension of the glulam? I can recess it into the ceiling about 20 cm and attach the joists with joist hangers, but the ceiling height is only 2 m. Hopefully, we can lower the slab a bit, but that's uncertain until we start. Any ideas?

The blue walls should also be removed somehow. The plan is a glulam beam from the exterior wall to the chimney, 2 m. But nothing in the other direction, as far as I can see, they are not load-bearing.

The red lines are old walls that no longer exist.

To be able to calculate this type of problem, dimensioned drawings are required. Information about the house's construction method and year of construction is also important for the assessment.

And unfortunately, there is nothing other than these drawings. The house is a so-called year 1909 house. So no one knows how old it is.
 
It's sufficient if you add dimensions to the existing drawings. Length and width of the house as well as the location of the load-bearing wall. It's likely that the house has been extended over the years; a garage in the basement was not very common before 1909. Also mention what kind of material is in the basement walls and in the floor structure between the basement and the ground floor.
 
Hi! Sorry for the late reply, but I went on a trip to warmer latitudes.

I have now added some measurements and hope that helps.

As for the walls, it's concrete blocks 200x190x400mm on the walls that are wider on the drawing. And 120x190x400mm on the narrow walls according to the drawing.

The floor joist is 230x80mm, varies a bit, feels like it's custom-sawn. CC 600mm.
 
We are talking about the replacement of the wall that is 4.9 m long. The smallest laminated beam that can be considered is 215x315. It is also acceptable to use narrower but higher variants.

Yes, that's the one we're talking about. It would be more practical with laminated wood considering the weight. I'll support it properly. And remove some stone to see how high it can be recessed. Thanks for the tips!

Seems like it will build down too much. What is the alternative in HEA? 200?

HEA 200 is a good option.
