Hi,

In my renovation project, I need to glue my vapor barrier to both studs and concrete.

When searching for such an adhesive, there aren't many results, but this adhesive from Dana Lim seems to be intended for exactly what I'm looking for:

Another product I considered before finding this adhesive was butyl sealant, which might also work.

Initially, I thought of using some kind of foam sealant because the space where I need to apply it is tight, and the foam's expansion would have been convenient. However, it seems not to be a great fit, as most of Sika's foam sealants explicitly state they don't adhere to PE (which vapor barriers are made of).

Has anyone had experience with one or more of these three products?

Regards,
Mats

Hello,

After some further searching this winter for an adhesive to glue the vapor barrier in my renovation project, I found Foil Adhesive at Jem&Fix of all places (!), see attached photo. This adhesive has worked well and provides a relatively strong bond between both vapor barrier-vapor barrier and vapor barrier-timber.

I bought eight tubes and took the opportunity to ask at the checkout if they could see if the product would be discontinued, to which the answer was that there was no such indication in their system.

Now I was going to buy a few more tubes and unfortunately, it turned out that it had been discontinued 😣

Does anyone have any other tips on adhesive that sticks to this "greasy" plastic?

By the way, I have tried butyl mass, but it doesn't seem to cure between two dense plastic layers.
