Gluing together two oak pieces to achieve the correct thickness for a threshold, what is the best adhesive to use, polyurethane glue or assembly adhesive or maybe regular wood glue will suffice? Does anyone know?

I built about 20 new thresholds in oak in our old apartment. I didn't even think there were alternatives to regular wood glue, but that was before I found byggahus.se and realized that one could ask. So it works, but there might be other better options.

It works well with regular white glue and clamps. Recently sanded surfaces are a plus! (We run everything that needs to be glued through a wide belt sander, but it can be done by hand as well...)
