drywall with vapor barrier

Hello
House built in 1972, 1.5 stories.
Planning to replace the ceiling in a room in the hallway.
The gypsum boards currently there have some kind of plastic film on the back. Vapor barrier?
There is plastic in the walls on the upper floor (original) and vapor-tight paper on the exterior walls on the lower floor.
Where I will replace the ceiling, there is an attic space above for half of it.
Should I install plastic in the ceiling in that case?
How do I connect it to walls that will not be torn down?

The reason you should have a vapor barrier is to prevent any water vapor from rising to the attic and cooling down. How much water vapor do you have in the hall?
If you decide to put something in the ceiling, I suggest humminboard (wet room drywall) and some form of strip behind the ceiling molding and under the drywall.

Easy to take things out of context, right? OP is asking for some form of plaster with a vapor barrier, and I present a simple (yet expensive) suggestion. I don't understand why it has to be so damn hard to help people who ask instead of making silly comments about those who are helping?! If you don't think waterproof plasterboard in the hallway is a sensible solution, maybe you could use the forum for its intended purpose and provide some informative criticism about other better solutions instead of an obviously ludicrous idea meant solely to mock the answer?? It seems quite natural that not everyone knows everything, that's why BH.SE exists, right?

I believe that I have helped the OP find a type of diffusion-proof drywall. I also believe that I am one of the few in the thread who have helped the OP at all. Bathroom drywall for the ceiling is far more helpful than a towel warmer, for example. Whether bathroom drywall is right or not seems to be something you have a keen understanding of?! Then we can go back to what I previously wrote about informative criticism instead of mockery. Since you (if one reads between the lines) know what is right, maybe you can do your part and help the OP instead of questioning me when I'm trying to make the entire byggahus.se a better place by giving all the "keyboard warriors" a shove for writing down other people?injonil said:

Secondly, the amount of moisture that actually diffuses through your ceiling is negligible; it is at least so small that it will not have any practical impact regarding moisture in your crawl space.
What is important, however, is to ensure it is completely airtight. Moisture transported via convection can quickly have significant consequences concerning condensing moisture in your crawl space. If you use regular drywall and tape the joints with paper tape, this will be sufficiently airtight. Just make sure to seal the corners as well. Plastic is overkill in my opinion, at least in a hallway with a crawl space above.
