Gipsonite

Hello, again!

I have bought a house built in '34 and to this, a garage was added in '54, and in the building permit application, it says that the inner ceiling of the garage is gipsonite! I've never heard of this material before!!. My first spontaneous thought is gypsum and masonite in the same board? Could it be so? Google doesn't give me many answers either...

Does anyone know more about this material?

I've taken down some gipsonit from my ceiling (-60) and it was roughly like a plasterboard today. Just a bit thicker paper...
