I have a garage where 2 of the walls are under about 2 meters of earth. Built in 1964. The garage is attached to the house, built in 1939. Now, the outer wall of the garage facing the garden (long side) has cracked and is about to give way under the earth pressure. The other long side is the house... It's no longer possible to close the garage door. The garage wall is made of cement blocks. (The garage roof is made of siporex lightweight concrete). Quite low ceiling at 2.10m
My wish is to repair the garage and extend the house (2 floors) using the garage as a base. The garage is on a slab with a foundation footing under the garage.
Should I get a builder involved, or should I just demolish it now?
The advantage of the "sunken" garage is that we don't look into a garage from the kitchen window...
Anyone with ideas?
