Hi, I became a bit curious if this is a common construction in basement walls. Between the outer layer and the inner layer that is plastered träulit, I have a void around the whole house, see picture. Is there any disadvantage or advantage to this?

I'm considering constructing new interior walls with 45x45 metal studs and thought about leaving a couple of cm air gap between the inner layer of träulit and the studs, thinking it might work as some sort of insulation perhaps? Or? What is this type of construction even called?

Thanks in advance!
