I have some thoughts as I have a rather tight budget in a construction project. I'm going back and forth regarding the thickness of the studs since they don't really have a major structure to support. I'm building an apartment in an existing building where the outer shell is from earlier with timber logs and paneling. The structure I'm building is more or less freestanding with an air gap against the outer, not too straight walls. What I'm building now is self-supporting without direct weight. The original construction already supports the roof.
I'm planning to insulate with Ekofiber and there must be separate compartments...
My question is whether I really need studs all the way in depth. That is, do I really need to use something like 45x220 + 45x45 in the wall to get the depth? Can you make a special setup with something like 45 x 95 and then use a board on each side and finish with a 45?
I'm planning to have a wall about 26 cm thick. (then lath and plasterboard on the inside)
Maybe not a big saving, but still about 17 SEK per meter and it's a house of about 150 m2.
