Hi I got help from friends to put up drywall on the ceiling. We used noggings and placed the drywall along the spaced paneling with cc30. They installed the drywall crosswise, I argued that it shouldn't be done that way, but they insisted :( So it ended up the way they wanted. What to do? It's a large ceiling and I don't want cracks.

It's "just" a matter of pressing the filler properly into the gaps. It might be better with gypsum filler. And then fill with paper tape as usual. Note: not fiberglass tape.

What does it mean to install drywall panels with a cross pattern?

That they didn't install the boards with the offset as they should.

Swap friends!
They shouldn't get to decide how you want it in your house. ;-)

No problem setting them crosswise, there was even a recommendation to do so a while ago and then you could have 60cc on the spacing in dry areas Diagram showing installation instructions for wall and ceiling panels, illustrating cross joints, overlapping layers, and recommended distances for dry spaces.

There is nothing else to do to avoid cracks in the ceiling, this also applies where there are no general seams. Microlit on the ceiling and then paint, 99% guarantee of no cracks anywhere in the ceiling.

But in your picture it says "never crosswise".

There it sits in my garage, built by the previous owner, and there are indeed cracks in the joints.
..Which doesn't matter to me in the garage, I wouldn't have been as pleased if it were in the living room.

I might have misunderstood, clarification: it is okay not to set along the "glesen" (to cross the sparse/drywall) but it is not okay to set across the drywall according to the image Diagram showing incorrect drywall installation with panels forming a cross shape, labeled "FEL!!" indicating a mistake in alignment.

Put up an additional layer of drywall, staggering the seams, and you'll have the best possible conditions for a crack-free and beautiful ceiling for many years. Ask your friends for help, and everyone will learn!

Set a thin ceiling panel so you only build a few mm downwards and avoid having to spackle and paint.

For the next project, make drawings in advance.

Why paper tape and not fiberglass tape?

Fiberglass is no longer used as it does not have the same properties as papp, papp is much more stable but possibly involves a bit more work.
