Hello! We have bought a house built in 1950 where the wooden staircase has been covered at some point over the years with something that looks like linoleum. It is glued to the wood and is quite easy to pull off, but glue and fiber remain along with very sticky dirt. How would you go about revealing a beautiful wooden staircase instead?
A wooden staircase covered with linoleum, showing a winding design and a small window in the background.

Milling away the adhesive, then sanded the stairs.
It should be possible to rent a lacquer mill.

Should be possible to rent a paint stripper.
