Hello!

Does anyone have a qualified guess on how many KN a gaff anchor (GA 320) can withstand in tensile strength?
Or does someone actually know?

Thankful for answers

I believe there is some information like that on Gunnebo's website (Gunnebo fastening or something like that).

I have checked there but there is only a short description of the product....

Hello!

According to the BMF catalog, 6+3+3 nail plate 31/40 takes about 3 kN. This applies to long-term loads of 6 months or longer. For short-term loads, it is about 4 kN. I don't have access to the Swedish catalog at the moment, so the figures are taken from a Danish one, but it might give you some guidance.

Best regards,
Jonten

Thanks!
In other words, one might say that it is the kamspiken that is dimensioned if you nail 6+3+3 and not the iron. The feeling is that the iron can withstand clearly more than 3-4KN.

You can also increase to 8+4+4 or 10+5+5 if you want it to take more. At 8 nails it takes about 4 kN and at 10 about 5 kN.

Increasing the number of spikes does not always lead to increased strength as one must consider the wood quality and the center-to-center distance between spikes... But normally, you don't need as many spikes as you might think...
