Hello.
Anyone in the Stockholm area who has ordered metalwork for their house?
I am going to order a modification of a stair railing and the construction of two balcony railings.
Additionally, the fence on the property needs to be altered a bit.
Since it's old stuff that needs renovating, both blasting and eventually galvanizing and painting of the items are necessary.
It would be fun if someone also knows what price levels to expect... a difficult question, for sure.

Also need tips. Building in Nacka and have called 2 metal workshops in Saltsjö-boo. We are looking for a French balcony railing for a 140 cm wide door. At one workshop, I got a price of 8500 SEK + VAT. He said there was no price difference between painted or galvanized railing. (I know nothing about this so....) The next workshop wanted about 2000 SEK including VAT!!!! How the hell can it differ so much? Someone who has some price information to compare with. What is reasonable?
oh... Now it got heavy. We're going to need about 20 meters of fencing, plus the "small" modifications to the existing railings and fences...
tiring...
Considering what buffy says, it's probably a good idea to shop around a bit – and also check prices in rural areas (just like everything else for our project).

I put the search for wrought iron railings on hold for a couple of years but bought a stair railing before the vacation. Unfortunately, we haven't had time to install it, but the price was right. I'll probably buy from the same supplier next time too, but I'll let someone else do the painting. I bought from a blacksmith outside (with emphasis on OUTSIDE) Enköping who has a workshop at home. I have no complaints about the welding. Paid 800 SEK + VAT including paint.

...........checked it today........well it was closer to 3 kr per kilo for galvanizing.........if you consider that the price per kilo for iron is about 17 kr, it costs around 40-60 kr per kilo after processing at the workshop...cutting, welding, and assembly at the customer

Has never experienced/heard of giving a price per kilo for a job.
It completely depends on what the railing looks like.

I've made a bunch of railings, and I usually go out to the customer to measure and discuss any potential solutions/design issues.
Then the boss estimates approximately how much time and material will be needed and then gives a price, unless it's on an hourly rate basis.
Installation or not is usually 50/50.
