I have built a garage with a loft and my question is whether one should lay construction plastic under the chipboard on the loft floor. The garage below is heated and I can imagine that one should not have plastic. It is insulated.

Is the loft floor joist insulated?
If so, you should probably have a vapor barrier between the warm garage and the cold loft.
But the vapor barrier should not be directly under the floor chipboard, but under the insulation.

How have you done in the insulated garage walls?

The attic should also be heated.

In the garage walls, I have a moisture barrier behind OSB and gypsum on the inside and a wind barrier on the outside.

Även loftet ska vara uppvärmt.

I garageväggarna har jag fuktspärr bakom osb och gips på insidan och vindspärr på utsidan
Hello,

Pretty old thread but hoping you're still around on the forum... How did you finally do it? Facing the same dilemma.

Best regards,
Fredrik

Hi
I don't have any plastic on the floor, but I do have it on the walls and ceiling.

Thanks for the response! What kind of insulation do you have in the floor?

I'm thinking that if you drive in a snowy car, maybe that moisture travels up into the joists.

I have 170 mm Paroc stone wool.
Since I don't have a floor drain in the garage, I built the entire thing on 195x195x590 mm leca blocks.
