We are planning to convert a storage/garage with a concrete floor into a usable space. We have been to various hardware stores and got a tip about this underlay, a type of foam with a vapor barrier. The reason we are not building up with joists is that we need to build as low as possible since the ceiling height is already low. Has anyone tested this?

  • Roll of foam underlay with vapor barrier partially unrolled on concrete floor, used for low-profile renovation without building up with joists.
Is the plate insulated to begin with?

It is not isolated

It is a common type of foam and I don't think Skandor would do it worse than any other manufacturer.

Vinyl flooring, linoleum flooring, and perhaps vinyl click flooring are otherwise what builds up the least in height.
