Floating chipboard flooring and walls
Hello! I have a question. I'm planning to renovate the basement. I was thinking of laying cellplast on the concrete floor, then a floating particle board floor on top of that. My question is, how do I handle the wall studs? Can I screw them into the floating particle board floor or should I install the wall studs against the concrete slab before I start with the floor?
Best regards

Why not just screw the studs into the basement walls?
I mean, not placing them on the floor.
And I agree with the tip about steel studs!

Adding a question regarding how the floor and wall meet. Should the wall be built all the way down to the concrete slab and then the floor laid with a small air gap? Or should the floor be laid first and then the wall built?
I made such an insulation in 1976 in the basement when I built my house, 5cm styrofoam on an uninsulated slab with floating chipboard flooring on it. I framed the walls with 45/70 studs that were placed on the chipboards and screwed into the wall, 70 mm mineral wool with 12 mm chipboards on top but left an air gap against the floor, ventilated skirting board, no plastic foil on either the floor or the wall. The walls are 25cm Leca. This might not be done like this today, but I still live in the house without any moisture problems.
