I have a plastered house with chicken wire on reed. The surface layer has come off in several places, so now I have some work to do.
My question: it hasn't come off all the way to the wire; it's just the outermost millimeter that has come off. Should I still chip my way to the wire, apply mortar, and then surface plaster, or is it enough to moisten the existing stable mortar and apply new plaster?
