I have an isolated warm attic in my townhouse with skylights that I am now planning to furnish. I will lay the floor, put up a new railing, and paint the ceiling. However, the ceiling consists of thin masonite boards that cannot be painted on and are somewhat uneven. Therefore, I wonder if I need to put up some paneling over these boards, or is it enough to just spackle over the unevenness? Attaching a picture to give an idea of how the attic looks today.
You don't have to put up any panel, but it's difficult to achieve a perfect result with masonite. The cheapest option is probably to put up plasterboard. With plasterboard, it's easier to get a good result if you want to paint or wallpaper. What's underneath the masonite? Råspont or insulation directly? If you're unfamiliar with plasterboard, you might find it easier with panel.
