Have an open fireplace with a horrible color...

The hope is to repaint it. First with an adhesion primer to make the paint stick to the glazed tiled stove.

Does anyone know if it's possible to just tile (decorative stone) directly on the tiled stove to change its appearance? Or is it not possible because it generates heat?

Sacrilege!
Repaint this jewel? That's not an answer to the question, but I think it would be a shame to ruin such a gem.

If you absolutely don't want it, perhaps you could instead dismantle the tiles and let someone make use of it. Check with someone who is experienced in dismantling tiled stoves, etc.?
It will probably be easier for you to create another exterior shell as well. And a nicer result. Whether you just choose painted plaster or something else.

Do not destroy such a value-enhancing original detail in a home where you probably won't live for the rest of your life. Instead, have a decorative screen made, like a fire screen model but larger.
Decorative screen resembling a large fireplace guard featuring a painted winter forest landscape with snow-covered trees and a gold-trimmed black frame.
