We have a house with a garage in the basement. A fairly large part of the basement has an "open plan" towards this garage (storage, workshop, etc.) Now we are considering extending the house on both levels. It will then be a larger garage in the basement. Preferably, we don't want a door/wall between the new and old part of the garage. I have understood that EI30 is required between the garage and living spaces. I assume this also affects the existing part of the garage? All walls are built with masonry, so it should be OK. But I am unsure how to evaluate the floor structure. It consists of 200mm high joists with mineral wool insulation between. (I believe the insulation is 95mm). Below that is 18mm of rough plywood and 9mm of gypsum board. How can I find out if this meets EI30 / REI30? Most examples I find are about walls or new floor construction. Grateful for tips!

The easiest thing you can do is either replace your 9mm plasterboard or screw on a 15mm fire-rated plasterboard. It is rated for 30 minutes.

All the walls are masonry, so that should be OK. But I'm unsure about how to assess the floor structure. It consists of 200mm high beams with mineral wool insulation in between. Are you sure they don't require IE60?

Double plasterboard and Rockwool are usually the easiest solution.

Thanks for the reply!
However, still confused... Found this on träguiden after I created the thread:
källarbjälklag with beam of konstruktionsvirke or glulam, ≥ 45x170 (VB1974 or VB3100), center distance ≤ 600 mm, on the top side equipped with subfloor of ≥ 22 tongued floorboards or 23x95 underlagsspont (VB2055) and on the underside equipped with at least 9 mm cladding board (density ≥ 450 kg/m3) against glespanel 22x70 (VB0804) c 400 mm alternatively 17x95 underlagsspont (VB2049), meets the requirement for fire technical class EI 30.

Yes, the municipality responded that it is EI30 that applies. Hope they stick to it if we decide to proceed and apply for a building permit.

Make sure to get it in writing!

Keep in mind that interior doors and frames must also meet the IE class.
