Currently planning for a carport and will use 115*115 glulam columns. The only thing missing from the shopping list is a (preferably adjustable) post base for pre-cast footings that can handle 115*115 columns. Does anyone know if there is such a model?

I have read the thread below but since I need a solution for a column, the suggestions in the thread so far will not work for me: https://www.byggahus.se/forum/threads/infaestning-limtraebalk-i-stolpsko.316884/

The columns are "over-dimensioned" and really only require 90*90 columns - so maybe it's okay to notch the column to fit a 90*90 post base. I have found models that can handle 103 mm so then it's only 12 mm that needs to be notched, which might be okay?

Notch for 103 mm is best, a little more wood left, otherwise the 90X90 holds up quite well too, but more to notch.

Saw off one of the irons instead so that the post as a whole can rest on the plinth.

I've been thinking about that or buying an L-shoe instead. The question is if it won't affect the stability too much?

The attachment at the bottom of the post is not meant to keep it straight, just to support it vertically, while braces or rafters at the top hold it in place laterally at the top, so it's fine to either cut off or use an L-bracket.

One must differentiate between when a post shoe is used for a fence post and when it is used for a post in a load-bearing framework. In the latter case, the post should only be secured horizontally at the bottom and the top. Such a post is dimensioned with consideration to load and risk of buckling and does not require any other support.

Will there really be enough base area on the finished plinth to withstand the pressure from a 90X90 pillar?
