Hi

I am doing some electrical renovation in the summer cottage and discovered that an interior wall is filled with a gray mass. The wall is about 20 cm deep.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Asbestos? The house is supposed to be built in 1913.

  • Close-up of a drill bit with gray dust, possibly from a wall, against a grassy background.
  • Close-up of a wall with layers of plaster and a gray material exposed inside, possibly insulation or an unknown substance. House built in 1913.
  • Gray powdery substance inside an orange container, possibly related to a 1913 house renovation, with questions about its composition.

Looks like some kind of cement render. The house may be from 1913, but those masonite boards are much younger than that. Could it be that someone has smeared cement render on an old original kloasong wall with lime plaster?

The wall is thus filled. Maybe 15 cm with this mass. Very easy to drill through.
