In my basement, there are eternit panels of a format approximately 1 by 1 meter or larger, and I wonder if it's possible to first apply fiberglass fabric and then paint. The panels are painted today with something white, doesn't look like oil paint but more like basement paint, and between them, there is putty, probably, but cracked and old. I was thinking of using the room as an extra bedroom, is it possible?

Should work, but keep in mind that a coarser weave hides minor imperfections while a fine weave like Microlit doesn't hide a thing. In other words, a coarser weave is likely the most suitable.

First, remove any loose putty and paint, then apply putty. It’s probably essential to have a lot of fluorescent lights here since it may be difficult to get good lighting in a basement.
