Hi, I am planning to build a willow fence and thought to start by getting the fence posts in place. Regular impregnated fence posts. I read somewhere that they need to go down to frost-free depth, which is 1.2m (!). It sounds completely unreasonable to dig a narrow deep hole that is 120cm. Is this correct? How deep do they need to go? Is the best option a manual earth auger or to rent a machine? Or some other method?

What's the best way to secure them in the ground? Someone recommended ground anchors, but they aren't very deep, and I assume frost would "push them up," right? There are also screwable ones - that you screw into the ground at Jula - but their quality tends to be so-so. What should I consider? The fence posts themselves have a sharp tip, so I think if I get the hole deep enough, it should just be a matter of pounding them in. Do they still need to be cast in concrete?

Should I treat the tip that goes into the ground with something?

Rocky tough soil and a long fence. Living in the Stockholm area.

Many questions. Thankful for help!
