Hello

I have a mountain cabin where we soon need to redo the roof and I'm considering adding a bit more insulation.

The cabin is 50 years old and has no attic but is open to the roof ridge.

Since it will be difficult to insulate from the inside, I was thinking of checking if the following method could work:

When we remove the metal sheet and existing roofing felt, I thought of putting on new felt, battens with a 45 batten, and placing foam insulation between the battens.

After that, I attach the lath to the battens and screw on the metal roof.

Would this work or could there be any consequences?

You are moving the dew point, which can be positive if it ends up outside your waterproofing layer...

What you are describing is a thermisol with climate wind... which is good.

Then I know some who are concerned about fire risk etc.
