Extension Issues

Hey! I'm working on an extension. The problem is that the eave on the house is low. This means I can't build under the old roof.

What I need to do is cut into the old roof. The question is, what's the best and easiest way to do it?

Should I make a roof that is straight and simple and just connect it? Has anyone done something similar? Maybe some pictures or something?

Really difficult to answer without images or at least an explanation of how the extension is situated in relation to the house.
Is it at an angle, for example?

The extension will start where the house starts and end 3.5 meters into the façade. Will try to draw it up.
