Hello, we have moved into an old apartment where the hallway ceiling was lower than the rest of the apartment.
We planned to demolish the lowered ceiling to restore the old ceiling height, but started with an inspection hole and found remnants of a presumably demolished interior wall.
The problem is that there are only planks in the ceiling in some places. How do you go about covering this up?
I assume you can't just fill it with construction fix directly over all the planks?
I understand that reed mat is typical for old houses from the early nineteen hundreds, but is it what one would use today? Wouldn't it work to screw up plasterboard and lay lightweight concrete over it?
It refers to 30cm center-to-center on the beam you screw the gypsum board into.
You attach this beam to existing ceiling joists/planks.
Usually dimension 28mm * 70mm.
But if there's a long distance between the attachment points in the ceiling, you might need to increase the dimension to, for example, 34x70, etc.
That's when you don't care about how it was done in the past...
So my suggestion is to knock away the existing ceiling in the hallway, install beams with 28x70 in the ceiling, making it 23cm between them (cc30).
Run your electrical work between/above these.
Screw gypsum board or gypsum plank into these beams.
Fill the joints.
Paint.
I also have a floor that is half concrete and half old wooden floor. I was thinking of checking with a craftsman to break up the concrete slab and install new planks similar to the rest of the apartment. Perhaps I should see if the same professionals can redo the ceiling at the same time?

First check to make sure the "concrete floor" isn't part of a concrete joist system.
