Hi,

I am considering expanding the upper floor of a one-and-a-half-story house due to additional insulation.

My plan is to attach a 120 mm framework outside the existing 90 mm framework. The existing (interior wall) stands on the slab via the lower floor. The extension has no possibility to "stand" on anything as there is a brick facade underneath.

I wonder:

1. How should I best attach the 120 mm beams to the 90 mm beams?

2. Will the 90 mm beams be able to carry the new beams, two windows, and a lock panel?

I am attaching a small amateur drawing of the project.

Grateful for thoughts.

No one who has a little thought at all? :-[

Are you going to remove the insulation between the 90 studs?

Hi,

No, the insulation between the 90 studs remains. However, I am removing the existing wind barrier and replacing it with windproof paper after the 120 studs.

Jörgen (who still wonders if it can be done as in post 1)
