Hi
I was thinking of checking experiences with Biltema Multibond.

I will be sealing between an aluminum frame (for a sunroom) and painted glulam beams.

Primarily interested in experiences regarding whether it yellows over time or not. This is because I would prefer not to paint over the sealant.

Multibond is supposed to be equivalent to Tec7 and it supposedly doesn't yellow significantly over time.

So all experiences with Multibond are appreciated, especially concerning whether it yellows significantly over time.

Best regards,
Tomas

Gulnar. Go with tec7 if you know it works. The difference is just a few kronor.

Would not have taken that chance either.
Used multibond at my in-laws as a joint between the countertop and the sink.
Lasted two years!

Outdoors I tried Sikaflex 291, completely useless, can't withstand sunlight and started chalking after a year.
I also believe in Tec7, have used it for almost everything, but unfortunately not outdoors.

Thanks for the feedback, I think I'll avoid Multibond...

I've now also come across Essve Akryl Flex 25%, which is also not supposed to yellow and should work outdoors. Has anyone used it and knows if it's true that it doesn't yellow over time?

Best regards,
Tomas

Is it to be used in dry indoor environments?
I don't think you should be stingy when it comes to this application, find the best possible sealant for the purpose, it will be cheapest in the long run.

Gulnar. Stick with tec7 if you know it works. The price difference is so little.
Have you tested it? Tec7 is at least twice as expensive as Multibond.

It yellowed and crumbled.
Joined with silicone instead.

Okay, that doesn't sound good at all. Wonder why it happened.

Tec 7 becomes the best choice in your case. A good silicon might be better, but not for wood since it can't be painted over.

Last summer, I used black and gray multibond as a soft joint between the tiles in the pool area. It still looks like new so far. You have to be observant of the manufacturing date. It holds for 1 year from the manufacturing date, as stated on the tubes. It was difficult to decipher when they were manufactured. Those in the stores couldn't decipher what was printed. Eventually, I figured out they were stamped with the year + week number. There were tubes in the stores that were older than 1 year...

Yep. Was a bit stingy in a basement in the previous house.
