Experience with BYGGmax beadboard?
Don't know if this is the right forum but I'll take a chance...
Anyone with experience regarding the quality of BYGGmax beadboard 12x95?
http://www.byggmax.com/se-sv/Prod/PID-08413095.aspx
Lots of knots? Straightness? Other?
What we need to consider is whether it's worth investing in buying this from someone who charges more for their product. Will install 20 m2 on the ceiling that will be knot-sealed & painted white.

I have builtmax beadboard in the hallway. There were quite a few knots in it. Some pieces didn't have the full thickness, but the front was still smooth. Once the paint is on, the knots don't really matter. I am pleased with the result, but I can imagine it might be slightly faster to work with higher-quality paneling.

I have installed several meters of this at home, which we knotted and primed before installation, and then spray-painted with lacquer paint. Turned out great. A bit of work to knot, of course, but without having full knowledge, I think "knot-free" paneling is much more expensive, so it might be worth the effort. Good luck!
Hello & thank you for all your responses so far!
Re: andersmc - Do you mean that different suppliers (contracted manufacturer by Byggmax in this case) wouldn't select wood based on quality? Not sure if I buy that 100%...

I bought a pig in a poke. It was a comment to andersmc. Maybe it's part of the method to keep the price low. You can't sort out the bad pieces. Twice I have nailed beadboard. The first time was more than 100 years old used paneling. The second time was from byggmax. In that comparison, the old paneling was somewhat thicker and slightly better wood, but somewhat worse fit.

Now, I have very little personal experience with what I asked about, so I thought I'd write it down in case someone else finds the information useful.
At our local department store (Linköping), they had tongue and groove paneling from Södra yesterday. The packaging was transparent, so it was possible to get a small impression of the wood. What I could see looked OK, but on the other hand, the bundles are placed with the backside out = not much you can actually see... The length was 4.80 m, which led us to refrain from buying (the room is 5 m...). However, we asked the staff and were informed that they sometimes receive 5.10 & 5.40 lengths, but they have no way of knowing in advance which lengths will come in the next delivery.

Regarding the quality of Byggmax, there is an immense difference between different suppliers and occasions.
One package of 45x70 I bought in Skövde we had to discard 36% of due to warping, and many beams were even cracked (diagonal cracks).
On another occasion, we could use nearly 95% of a package from Karlstad...
I guess it's Gudrun (the storm) that has affected the quality in central Sweden.

Yes, I'm bumping this thread. I used Byggmax paneling in a room, as there were no other stores with it in stock. Sure, they were straight, but there were a lot of knots, and only one length that varied over time. The first purchase was long pieces, the next were half-short, resulting in a lot of waste. And a lot were broken where it was milled, so I had to burn several long pieces in the sauna. For the ceiling, I ordered from Beijer. I didn't have to reject a single plank, there were far fewer knots and it was also 20% cheaper (!). It was a special order, but I could order the nearest length. The only time I would buy paneling from Byggmax again is if I have an urgent need and need it immediately. I should mention that I like Byggmax. But the paneling was not good.

Just bought 950m of beadboard from a local sawmill/planing mill outside Linköping. I think the wood was marked Södra. There's a knot on about every 10th board, and then just a single knot. Otherwise, it's knot-free. Price-wise, it was the same as Byggmax. I know where I'll be ordering moldings and trim in the future!
That sounds heavenly! It's hardly expected to get knot-free when you buy beadboard.S swirve said:Just bought 950m beadboard at a local sawmill/planing mill outside Linköping.
