Hello!

Not sure if this is the right subforum but...

I'm looking for a solution to better utilize the heat in the basement from our fireplace. It's easily 30 degrees down in the family room while we're shivering in the living room above. Madness.

There must be a simple solution to this. I'm thinking of a simple vent with a fan in it. Maybe heat-activated? That would be perfect for us since we could get the heat up by the windows that aren't the latest design.

Any tips on what to look for? Preferably a complete solution since I have too many other projects going on. Just drill and put it in would be great!

Spontaneously, I would first see if it's possible to achieve natural ventilation, as fans usually make some noise.

What type of heating do you have, is it hydronic or direct electric/air source heat pump?
There are ready-made solutions with a smaller fan and pipes, but they usually are not silent.
