Drill, 35mm diameter, 500mm long
Hello! I need to drill up to about 500mm at the end of pressure-treated 95x95 posts. The plan is to place the posts onto existing metal rods from a previous fence. The old rods have a diameter of 35mm. The question is what combination of tools might work for this.
I’m worried that a center drill on an extender might risk becoming unstable or breaking. I don't know if there are spiral drills in that dimension, and if they are available for rent somewhere? It feels like it could be very expensive to buy.

Hole saw doesn't feel quite right.
I googled quickly but didn't find any 35mm spiral drills, but it doesn't feel impossible that they exist.

A spiral drill is probably the best type of drill for that purpose. 35mm is available for a reasonable price, and then you can use an extender. It's probably possible to find one that's sufficiently long too, but there's a risk that it might cost a lot of money.

Are there many posts? Is it aesthetically okay to use split posts? (e.g. 2 pieces of 45x95), then you would have the option to mill the groove instead, which feels like it would be a bit easier to get it more precise/get the posts straight than drilling. On the other hand, it might be relatively easy to tap the iron a bit to get the post in plumb.

Thanks to everyone for the help, I've found a 300mm drill, and will cut down the old stängerna instead
