Will strengthen the existing beams by attaching another beam to them. Is there any point in gluing in addition to screwing? And I'm also thinking about the best way to seal between them. Because it will hardly be hermetically sealed between the beams. Run a bead of sealant at the bottom before installation? Or afterwards in the joint?

The carpenters at work usually use PU glue if they're going to double a beam and of course screws.
The PU glue expands a bit and fills.

It's probably not completely safe? to use for health, so read the bottle.

If the surfaces are planed, I think you can achieve extra strength by screw-gluing them together.

I am using the old floor joists and they are not planed.

A thin line of expanding foam, is it a no-no in this context?

Then I think it is difficult to get a good enough contact between the surfaces for it to be meaningful to glue.
