We have a future nursery that is largely in an old attic space. That is, slanted ceiling and narrow.
I have another thread about building a dormer, where there are pictures too, but now the question has shifted character, so it will be a new thread.
In the future nursery, we initially considered building a dormer to create more play area and eventually space for a desk. But the thoughts have shifted a bit to skylights. We built a bathroom last year in the attic under the slanted ceiling and installed a Velux skylight. It really provides a lot of light and extra floor space. But of course, not in the same way a dormer would.
Choosing one or two skylights instead would mean we wouldn't have to worry about beams and construction. And now I know how to install such a window. We also realize that it takes a while for a child to grow tall enough that the ceiling becomes an issue. And even an adult would fit behind a desk if there was a skylight there.
The ceiling starts at 80 cm. What do you think, will there be enough space if we go with skylights instead? If we choose two windows, they'll still be divided by a beam, so you lose ceiling height there, but maybe that's okay?
Grateful for your experiences and suggestions.
