Material found on the floor. It may have something to do with the floor, or it may have ended up there purely by chance and thus not have anything to do with the floor itself.
The material is dry and extremely porous. Almost as if it "dissolves" and turns into tiny little "grains" when held between the fingers.
Yes, I also think it might be some old foam material. Who knows why it would just be on the floor though?! Was yours also orange in color and crumbled almost by itself as soon as you came into contact with it? Turns into a grainy "flour".
Yes, it was about the same color, but yours seems to have larger pores or whatever you'd call it. It couldn't be handled without falling apart, so I had to take it with the vacuum cleaner.
I have no idea where yours might come from. Maybe it just stuck to the clothes from work or something?
How much is it?
On an old wooden floor. In a room that serves as a passage between the hallway and the laundry room. Scattered here and there, small pieces spread out. When I touch it, it just crumbles...
Could old foam rubber have different sized "pores"?! Or? When it has crumbled, it feels like dry grains.
Did yours do that too?
Looks like old food, but I'm guessing foam rubber from a mattress, cushion, or something similar.
I once had a mattress topper that I removed the cover from to wash, I should never have done that, the foam rubber had dried at the edges so it crumbled over the bed, it was hard to remove and I couldn't get the darn thing back on once it was washed.
Could it be insulation, when caulked or similar, insulation that sits around windows or doors that has dried, assuming there is a gap around the frame.
Looks like pieces from one of those yellow/orange rougher sponges you usually use on the car for tough dirt and insects.
Also resembles the sponge that used to be found at post offices and banks in the past, which you used to moisten your fingertips. I liked those as a child😊
