I have a brad nailer (18 GA) that I've used to attach crown molding, baseboards, door trims, etc. However, I've never installed ceiling panels with it and I'm wondering if it works. I have a real nail gun, but it uses nails that become visible.

I really don't want to have to buy another tool!

15 or 16 gauge is preferable, but 18ga will certainly work. I installed 120mm tongue and groove paneling in the ceiling of a shed about 10 years ago with 18ga, and as far as I know, it's still there (moved away from there 1.5 years ago).

16 ga fits so much better. Used paneling on the ceiling and walls with 18 ga downstairs and in the ceiling panel it didn't hold together everywhere. Got a Senco 16 ga for the upstairs panel.

The ones I have used worked with 18. It might depend on the panel.
But I angle the nailer so the nails are driven in at an angle, and the angles "counteract" each other.
