If you build a house on posts, you attach the beam to the posts using post shoes. But how is it if you have a crawl space foundation made of lecablock? Does the house just rest on the foundation wall, or is the beam attached in some way to the foundation wall?

I fastened my load-bearing beam with construction angles and screws. I didn't think the plugs would hold so well in the concrete blocks, but they fit like they were cast.

Bearer beam = Syl?
I skew-nailed my syl with 6" nails.

Bearer is mentioned in a building description I have, but maybe it's only called that if the house is on piers? The upright board resting on the foundation (with sill paper in between, of course), which the floorboards are attached to, in any case.
Thanks for the answers!
